Hi, I’m Abida, a mutli-passionate creative:
I write a lifestyle blog, which focuses on food, interior decor and my life. I started blogging in 2012 and it took me a couple of years to find my voice, so in 2018 I took the plunge and decided you know what? this makes me happy! So I’ll do it full-time … yep! full time, see I have been an environmental scientist for the past seven years and I loved it… for a while but now I’m charting a new path and it’s scary and exciting all at the same time. I don’t believe believe in coincidences and If you are reading this and are finding yourself at a fork in your road, perhaps this is the universe giving you a nudge, telling you to go ahead and take the road less traveled ( look at me Robert Frosting the hell out of this paragraph!) oh did I mention I’m a comedian as well?!
Topics I cover on this blog include:
For as long as I can remember I have loved experimenting in the kitchen… and in the beginning not only was I constantly exhausting the onion and tomato supply in my mums pantry, I was also having as many misses (like the blue rice that my father absolutely refused to eat!) as I was hits, thankfully those scales tipped as the years went by! So now in my own kitchen I have found that Alan Wolfelts’ words ⬇︎ ⬇︎ ring true
Food is symbolic of love when words are inadequate. — Alan D. Wolfelt
I express my love through my cooking, and everyone whose come across my table can attest to that. So on my blog, I share my love with you by sharing my recipes.
Again for as long as I can remember I was constantly rearranging my childhood home, changing the furniture layout, bringing in and taking out plants. When I was an undergrad I was already shopping for furniture and major decor items much to my friends chagrin! They just couldn’t figure out why I was bothering despite the fact that I was still living with my parents! I would also constantly gift my mum with carvings and artefacts … Fast forward ➡︎ ➡︎ years later I’m still constantly re-organizing my home! Those who’ve come through my doors love my decor, I thought to myself you know what I’ll help others achieve beautiful interiors that awe them every time they walk through the door! When it comes to decor William Morris said it best ⬇︎⬇︎
Have nothing in your home that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful. – William Morris (1834-1896)
So on my blog I write articles on decor, sharing what I’m inspired by and how you can achieve the same for your home. I also do in person consultations and if you are interested I’d love to chat
I also love sharing interiors that inspire me such as friends homes as well as restaurant and hotel interiors.
My take away for you – If you are suffering from the imposter syndrome, you know feeling like you are a fraud … take yourself back to your childhood, because more likely than not you were your authentic self back then!
Of course the food & interiors are an integral component of lifestyle, but in addition to that I love sharing other facets of my life with you on the blog. I am a Wife and a Mother and most of my posts are peppered with my experience as both as well as my quirky sense of humour!
